THE HOT BAPTISM ON MY BREAST

“We are here again,
We are here again
Father we are here again
Holy ghost come and take control”

The zeal dropped the moment I perceived the party jollof rice our neighbors cooked. I tried to open my eyes slightly, then I heard the pastor screamed “He is coming………ooooooo…..o riririririri, its coming, the spirit is here…..don’t open your eyes…..the spirit is here, oooooooo thank you Holy Spirit divine, shalaboskedeluul kitorubbersandal, maleee me luuu” he blasted.

I exhaled deeply. Can this deliverance pastor just get this prayer over and done with? I made attempt to look again and then I saw my other siblings so engrossed in prayers; so as not to look like the possessed one, I intensified in prayer. We were all on our knees. Ask me what happened to us?

Seeing people both young and old use glasses had been a fancy thing for me. I was in JSS 1 when the unquenchable thirst started. Out of five children, I was the only one with eye defect. Though my dad and mum used glasses. One of those days, I got back from school and complained about my sight. My mum was worried so she promised to take me for checkup.

The weekend came and we set out for Ido-Ekiti. We were living in Ikere then. The usual medical procedure was done, you know- checking of BP before sending any patient to the doctor. Sorry, who sent the nurse to check my mum’s BP? Well, it was a good evil because from there we discovered my mum had high BP. That was where we ended my glasses passion.

Ado here we come. Please what has witchcraft to do with high BP. That was how my mum started calling tongue pastors in their sizes and spiritual hierarchies. The ones who spoke tongues in German, Spanish and even our dialect Ekiti- Keeeluubelulu, sijokenduleee poju, mayamaye, moko moko, maya maya, salatu, skedelu. See, I was just too young for these now, Haba!!!

With three girls and two boys, congregation was complete. There was this brother in our church then, he called himself Ibunkun (Blessing) so we all called him brother Ibunku.  One of those days, he came to our house unannounced. He said the spirit led him. Please help me ask him, did the Spirit also lead him to demand for Eba? I tell you; that was the first thing he requested for. I was the one who made it.

He finished it, yes he did, the Eba three people could eat comfortably, he ate alone and we all sat on the floor staring at him. Where do we go from here? Prayer session started. Oh let me not forget to tell you that my mum and dad were not around so he was well led by the spirit.

The fear he instilled in us was too solid I could axe it. “The spirit says no one should open eye (rara, ki eni keni mase la oju)” la oju ke {open eyes ke), since I didn’t want any evil spirit to enter me. As disobedient as I was, I did not open anything.

Prayer was concluded. He left. Two days later we were having a chit chat, and then I mentioned the fact that he touched my breast and shook it vigorously. Soooooo I wasn’t the only one, that ma…..n actually sized our breasts round all in the name of deliverance.

Luck smiled against him one day that he visited. We never knew he was coming. He was with his encyclopedia bible again and this time, we were ready.

“The spirit leads…..’
We cut him “Don’t worry sir, the spirit came ahead of you and healed our mum” we all echoed
